Roof Replacement | REC Solar + Sol-Ark® Install - 2024 REC Residential Job of the Year Award Winner
Challenge
Nestled near the Des Plaines River and surrounded by dense forest, the Crone family's 6,000 sq ft home faced frequent power reliability issues. The unique landscape meant grid power was unstable, and the steep, three-story roof made installation logistically difficult.
Solution
Phoenix Exteriors designed and executed a comprehensive energy solution featuring a standing seam metal roof, 69 high-efficiency REC solar panels, two SOL ARK inverters (USA-made), and a full-stack HOME GRID battery system. The project required specialized boom lifts and advanced safety equipment due to the height and complexity of the roof.
Results
The Crone family now enjoys a consistent power supply, even during outages, with a net-zero energy bill. Their system produces approximately 25,800 kWh annually, eliminating their dependence on the unreliable grid.
Impact
This project not only modernized the home’s energy system but significantly reduced its environmental footprint—the system’s output is equivalent to removing tons of carbon emissions and planting hundreds of trees annually.
Annual Impact:
- 25,800 kWh of clean energy produced
- 10.8 metric tons of CO₂ emissions avoided
- Equivalent to planting ~270 trees every year
